The Three Dantians

The 3 Dantians are energy centres in the body that are said to store and control energy…

Lower Dantian

Located in the abdomen, about three finger-widths below the navel. It’s also known as the Golden Stove. The lower dantian is associated with the primordial essence, Jing, the basis for physical existence.

Middle Dantian

The middle dantian is in the chest area, in the middle of the heart. It’s also known as the Crimson Palace. The middle dan tian is associated with Chi energy, which is created from food and air and relates to emotions and thoughts.

Upper Dantian

Located at a centre point just higher than the eyebrows, also known as the Third Eye. The upper dantian is associated with Shen energy, which is related to spirit and consciousness.

When sitting, standing, walking, or practicing Qigong or Tai Chi, it is recommended that you align the three donations vertically. This promotes a harmonious relationship with the force of gravity and heaven and earth.

Some methods for cultivating the energy in the dantians include breathing techniques, visualization, and movement.
